The 5th graders are beginning what appears to be the favorite activity so far-- animoto.com! Animoto.com is a web tool which allows users to combine photos, music, and text to create mini movies. For students we simply use the stock images and music in the animoto library to create book trailers. Before we begin I share some book trailers for titles such as The Book of One Hundred Truths , The Strange Case of Origami Yoda, and Liesl and Po. Three different genres, types, styles you name it! Students will share their finished trailers during their final week of library and media skills after the Thanksgiving break.
4th graders are exploring our online version of Worldbook Encyclopedia. The previous week we used WorldBook Student to answer trivia questions. This week we tried out the "Important Person" button on WorldBook Kids to compare and contrast two notable people.
2nd graders graphed our Word of the Moment results. The Word of the Moment is a new conversation our library and media skills are having each week. This week the question asked about favorite Thanksgiving foods and traditions. It's a popular part of class for 1st through 5th grade!
1st graders listed to several poems about Thanksgiving by Jack Prelutsky. One poem, Wishbone, inspired us to make a text to self connection and write down our own wishbone wishes! I snapped a photo of each student holding a paper wishbone. We'll add our wishes to the pictures next week before Thanksgiving break.
Kindergartners had fun listening to I Kow An Old Lady, both the traditional text, and the newer holiday version I Know and Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie. Students had fun listening to the silly rhyme, then comparing the two stories.
Question of the Moment excitement!
