How did April slip by so quickly?

Last week in the library...

Our kindergartners acted out Yo? Yes! A friendship story with few words and big emotions, our youngest students acted with aplomb and sincerity...and a lot of laughs!

1st graders finished up Frog and Toad and puzzled out a logic challenge to help Frog find Toad's missing button. 1st graders love a good game and narrowing down the correct button based on the provides clues was one they were ready to tackle with enthusiasm. The Frog and Toad series are always a big hit with this crowd.

2nd graders completed their genre journey by performing Click Clack Moo, Cows that Type as a Readers Theater. Readers Theater is a hit with every age group, and our energetic second graders were no exception. You can't go wrong with reading a Doreen Cronin book, really. Her humor and wit are appealing and fun.

3rd graders began to tackle the online catalog. Being efficient searchers is the first step in becoming efficient researchers, and this class proved they were ready for the challenge. Locating books quickly, scanning the bib record to help them make good book choices, and taking notes were all part of the program today.

4th graders...also spent some time reviewing the online catalog. Students quickly moved from following  examples to seeking out books based on personal interest. It might seem like a simple task to devote time to, however being efficient searchers helps students later in their scholastic endeavors...

5th graders finished up a three week web quest on poetry. Last week was the creative finale to classes spent learning and sharing different types of poetry with their team. Students read and selected several poems, then created their "cafe" where the poems would be performed.

Time to put up the May bulletin board!
